OUR STORY

WE ARE CITY

Chicago City Soccer Club was built with a clear vision: to create a club that truly represents the City - diverse, driven, and united by a love for the game. What began as a grassroots effort has evolved into a connected, city-wide community serving families across Chicagoland.

At the heart of CITY is our Care Model - a belief that development is technical, tactical, emotional, and human. We invest in our people and our environment because confident players grow from healthy cultures.

Hear from Founder Nick Mulvaney and Marie Zenere, Founder of Chicago Lakefront Attack Soccer Club, as they share the story behind our evolution and the culture that continues to define us.

This is CITY.
Built for the game. Built for the City.

DEVELOPING STUDENTS OF THE GAME

GIRLS ACADEMY

Academy Integration Nights

Our Girls Academy training model brings the full Boys and Girls Academy together under one roof for bi-weekly 3+ hour integrated development sessions.

Each evening is intentionally structured to maximize access to our complete performance staff. Players participate in a field session overseen by our Director of Soccer and Academy Director, a dedicated Strength & Conditioning session led by our Head of Performance & Athletic Development, a tactical and video-based component with our Head of Analysis, and focused work with our Mental Skills coaches.

Consolidating our full academy resources into one aligned environment creates a powerful developmental ecosystem. It elevates standards, strengthens connection across age groups, and ensures our emerging talent benefits from every layer of expertise within the club - all in a single, purposeful setting.

ACADEMY COMMUNITY

HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

Hear from our GM & Girls Academy Director, Craig McDonald, as he outlines our commitment to elevating performance through intentional collaboration - across age groups, departments, and coaching staff.

By bringing every layer of expertise together in one integrated setting, we establish shared standards, aligned messaging, and collective accountability. Coaches grow alongside one another. Players build connections across pathways and see the bigger picture of their development journey. The environment extends beyond any single team - it becomes a unified academy.

At CITY, we believe excellence is not developed in isolation. It is cultivated through collaboration.

PREPARED FOR THE NEXT LEVEL

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

Launched in December 2024, the Development Academy brings together our top U14–U19 players (2011–2006) for bi-weekly advanced training and competitive matches beyond their primary team schedule.

This program is designed to stretch high-performing players in a demanding environment, including competition against local adult teams. Facing older, more physical opponents accelerates decision-making, resilience, and tactical maturity — critical components for players aspiring to reach the collegiate or professional level.

The impact is tangible. Ibra, featured in this video, progressed from our Development Academy into a full-time role with the Chicago Fire U15 Academy in 2025 and is thriving in that environment. Stories like his reinforce our responsibility: to prepare players for the next level — technically, mentally, and competitively.

As the program continues to grow, we look forward to extending this model into younger age groups, ensuring our most driven players are consistently challenged in the right environments at the right time.

WOMEN SHAPE THE GAME AT EVERY LEVEL

MOM'S NIGHT 2025

Our Moms’ Night was a celebration of the women who support, lead, and inspire our players every day—on the sidelines, at home, and throughout our club. On Girls & Women in Sports Day, we’re proud to recognize the impact of women in sport and the community they help build.

NWSL CHICAGO RED STARS

The Red Stars joined us during our Halloween session to inspire our young players, and the impact was unforgettable. Moments like these create powerful sparks of motivation as our players see strong, accomplished women they can look up to. This is what community is all about. Thank you, Red Stars.

LOCAL DERBY

LAMAR HUNT US OPEN CUP

After an exceptional USL2 campaign in 2024, CITY didn’t just have a successful season — the club elevated its standard. The work, consistency, and belief shown throughout that run earned something historic: qualification for the 2025 U.S. Open Cup.

Drawing the Chicago Fire was more than a tough matchup — it was a defining moment. Facing an MLS opponent in a storied competition placed CITY on a bigger stage and validated the progress of the entire organization. Hosting the match at SeatGeek Stadium wasn’t just about venue logistics; it was a glimpse into what the future of CITY could look like — competing at higher levels, in larger environments, with the spotlight on.

For our players, it was an opportunity to test themselves against top-tier professional competition. For our supporters and community, it was a moment of pride. And for the club, it marked a milestone — proof that CITY is building something real, sustainable, and ambitious.

Experiences like this don’t happen by accident. They are earned. And this one will stand as a memory that defines this era of the club — a reminder of how far we’ve come and how high the ceiling can be.
